08.12.10 Been a while, but there has been some progress! Actually the progress happened weeks ago, but I've not got round to putting any posts up about it! As you'll see in the images below, the 'down' end of the line is in place, which is the most difficult part to get track down on, as there are 3 of the 4 total points in the small area. You might notice that point 103 ends on the baseboard join. I hope not to regret this later!

22.10.10 Below is the track plan that I have decided on. it has been chosen as it is nice and simple, offers some limited shunting and also is prototypical for the size of terminus here. As you can see, its nice and simple. When I get to a place with a decent mouse and keyboard, I’ll upload another picture with the sections on it, plus make it more visable… (i’m working at a clients site, copying CD’s) As for the section on the right hand side of the layout, that will be where the ‘fiddle yard’ will end up, but I will probably turn this into a cartridge type, for simplicity of operation.

21.10.10 I’ll start with a little background..
on May 4th, 1984 I was born at…. ok, thats not really relevant!
The background to this project is that I wanted something I could do to fill some time, and get me off the PC for a while… while also creating something for the AJK (http://www.adnalm.org.uk) to take and exhibit places. I was happy to find out, shortly after deciding I wanted to build a layout, that the Director General had been given some baseboards to build a club layout, as long as it was exhibited at least once a year at a particular event. We had a bit of discussion about them, and agreed that I’d take on a project to build a layout for the club. (I did get permission from my gf first)
There are 4 baseboards in the ‘set’ 2x 4 foot boards (the outer ends) and 2x 3 foot boards, all with current backboards, but not scenes… I’ve already done some work on them to level them up… as it’s a bugbear of mine when layouts are not put together with care! The Director General gave me a post-it note, with a rough diagram of a ‘proposed’ track plan… I’ve now since created a more accurate representation of this, as I thought it was suitable. this will be made available in my next post We also discussed the Era, which was decided to be Epoch 4, which should cover lots of interesting stock for the railway… not including preserved trains!
Also, I’ve also been given a load of track, and points salvaged from previous installations at the FLMJ, which I am very thankful for! As for the location, or prototype as some call it… I’ll leave it for the Director General to explain…
The Exhibition layout should be called Rönnöfors (pronounced, Rer-ner-forsh). It is the terminus of an imaginary line in Jämtland, and is based on a local bus timetable. There would be only one passenger train each week-day to/from Östersund, departing Rönnöfors at 07:15 and arriving at 16:00; no trains at weekends, but an extra arrival on Wednesdays at 14:10 (departs ECS after the 16:00 arrival. This gives scope for goods traffic, plus a preserved group taking over the line at weekends and during midweek in the summer holiday season (mid-June to mid-August in Sweden). The truncated spur at the opposite end from the fiddle-yard would be the former extension to Frankrike, but even the bus doesn’t go there now – maybe a feeder bus on the model!
So that’s about it for now…. watch this space!
